It’s hard to believe that we’re nearing the end of the 2022 college football regular season. Prospects are accepting Senior Bowl and Shrine Bowl invites daily, signaling that we’ve entered the start of draft season. With that in mind, today’s post is my updated top 200 big board. Here’s my October version for those interested in how the rankings have changed.
I broke the top 200 into ten tiers (not including an eleventh for some honorable mentions). As always, a prospect’s exact number rank on the board isn’t as important as his tier rank. My goal is to put players in the correct buckets based on my evaluation process. Most players are interchangeable within their tiers.
There are sections at the bottom of this article for extra prospects I considered and players dealing with significant injuries that I removed from the board.
I wish I had full, in-depth reports for every prospect on this board. I checked out all of them while assembling the rankings, but there’s just not enough time to build reports for everyone. I have a day job to focus on and currently don’t make any money from these reports. It’s all for the love of the game and the draft process.
This was by far the most frustrating big board I put together over the past two years. I stacked, deleted, and re-stacked the top 100 three or four times. I’m still not very confident in the top 50 and the rankings for players in the 90-120 range. Hopefully the December big board is easier to produce once we have more data and tape.
There are a few additional notes on the top 200. Brenton Cox Jr. still makes an appearance despite his dismissal from Florida, but his rank is significantly reduced. Positional value wasn’t a factor in producing the rankings. The games played in Week 11 weren’t taken into account for this board.
