2024 NFL Draft: April Top 300 Big Board

It's my final personal big board for the 2024 NFL Draft

The 2024 NFL Draft is less than two weeks away, which means it’s time to release my April top 300 big board. I’ve added 50 new players to the rankings since last month. The top 300 are broken into 14 tiers. Prospects are interchangeable within their tiers, so readers can view those tiers as my personal draft ranges for every player listed.

These are my personal rankings and aren’t predictive or based on rumors coming from the league, agents, or other potential sources. This also isn’t my final big board of the year. I am working on a predictive top 100 big board that I will submit for competitions, but that won’t come out until the week of the draft.

Let’s talk about the philosophy behind my personal big board. These rankings don’t put much weight into positional value. Instead, I primarily focus on film study and place prospects in tiers that match their current performance levels. That’s why a quarterback like J.J. McCarthy won’t be appearing in the top 20.

Medical history (Laiatu Latu, Michael Penix Jr., Zak Zinter, Payton Wilson, etc.) and off-field/maturity concerns (Jermaine Burton, T'Vondre Sweat, etc.) are considered but aren’t heavily weighted. That would be much different if I were working for an NFL team or agency, but I’m not.

Combine and pro day testing and tape from All-Star events such as the Senior Bowl and Shrine Bowl are also included in the evaluation process, with more emphasis on the latter than the former. In-season tape and in-game athleticism, play strength, and speed are valued more than All-Star events or pad-less events.
