Background: Grant was an offensive line recruit from Churchland High School in Portsmouth, Va. in the class of 2020. He did not receive star ratings or grades from 247Sports, Rivals, On3, or ESPN. Grant was a First-Team 4A All-Eastern Region selection as a high school senior. He earned All-Region and All-District honors as a junior. Grant was also an All-State wrestler at Churchland.
Injuries & Off-Field: Volunteered and donated bone marrow in 2023, finalist for the 2023 Wells Fargo Advisors Humanitarian Award

Pros: Special teams experience on the punt coverage and field goal units, arm length will check boxes, good lower body development, defenders struggle to play through his frame, stout anchor slows and halts speed to power, difficult to pull forward off balance, strong grip, mostly avoids leaning in pass pro and the run game, lets the pass rusher come to him, quick and long lateral shuffles help him recover, long strides helps him cover space quickly in pass set, body angles on first and second level blocks create run lanes, digs out 5-techs to create large B-gap, quick enough for reach blocks, creates movement on gap runs, comfortable working to the second level, combo blocks, tracks second level targets well, putting defenders in the dirt and finishing blocks vs. Maine (2023)
Cons: Committed nine penalties over the past two seasons, competition level, high-hipped, very lean upper half for an NFL tackle prospect, good form on kick step but it’s a little stiff, initial kick step gains inconsistent width/depth, guilty of oversetting and opening B-gap, edge rushers cross his face into the B-gap, late to redirect and shut off B-gap, doesn’t maximize length consistently, late to engage defender with his hands, too willing to allow defenders into his frame, doesn’t replace hands frequently enough, inconsistent foot speed in pass pro, plays with an elevated pad level, allows base to narrow and pads to rise after he stalls the initial rush, strong club moves shift him out of gaps, delayed stunt recognition, no signs of mauler mentality vs. Virginia (2023), needs to finish more blocks
Overview: Grant has only played left tackle for William & Mary and has special teams experience on the punt coverage and field goal units. His competition level will draw criticism during the pre-draft process, but he has practiced against two high-level edge rushers for most of his career. Grant is high-hipped with a lean upper half by tackle standards, but his arm length should check boxes. His lower frame is more filled out and makes up for his developing upper body. He has good form on his kick slide but looks stiff in his movements. Grant becomes more comfortable and athletic in pass protection once he gets out of his kick slide. His initial kick step gains inconsistent depth and width, but there are some positive reps on tape. The redshirt senior oversets and opens a massive B-gap for defenders to counter into. He is late to redirect and cut off these inside counters. Defenders that attempt to play through Grant’s frame don’t make much headway. His stout anchor allows him to halt speed to power. Grant’s unique build makes him a difficult lineman for defenders to pull forward and off balance. He doesn’t lean on defenders in pass protection or the run game often, which helps him maintain his balance. The Virginia native is patient in pass protection and lets the defender come to him. He doesn’t maximize his arm length consistently because his hands are late to engage the defender. Grant is too willing to allow defenders into his frame. He must replace his hands more often to find better positioning and establish leverage, but he has a strong grip to stay attached to blocks once he latches. The All-CAA selection has inconsistent foot speed up the arc and plays with an elevated pad level. He doesn’t stay engaged for the full rep, sometimes allowing his base to narrow and pad level to rise after just stalling the initial rush. His quick and long lateral shuffles or open-hipped strides allow him to cover space quickly and recover in pass protection. Grant’s stunt recognition is still developing. In the run game, he uses excellent body angles at the first or second level to create massive run lanes. He digs out 5-techs to clear the B-gap and is quick enough to establish positioning on reach blocks. Grant is comfortable pulling on gap runs or climbing to the second level on combo blocks. He tracks second level targets well and takes good angles into blocks. Grant flashed some finishing power in the run game against weaker opponents but showed no sign of it against Virginia (2023). By all public accounts, he has superb character and will likely earn favor among interviewers (media, team personnel, or otherwise) in the pre-draft process.
Overall, Grant is an athletic tackle with above-average physical tools and movement skills. His hand usage lags far behind the top prospects in the 2025 class, and it’s clear his frame still requires some physical development. He projects as a developmental depth piece in the upcoming draft.
